A brave team from the Leeds office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell took part in a sky dive to help raise funds for local children’s charity, SNAPS.

Six members of the Irwin Mitchell team in Leeds took to the sky to take part in a tandem skydive at Hibaldstow, jumping from a plane at 15,000 feet high, on Friday 20 July.

The team are raising money for SNAPS, a charity that provides leisure support services for children with special needs, and their families. The charity operates out of Pennyfields School in Meanwood and Broomfield School in Belle Isle where it aims to support the entire family, by enabling the child, along with parents and carers, to participate in a shared experience.

The £2,800 raised by the team’s bravery will help SNAPS provide hydrotherapy and sensory sessions, arts and crafts, soft play and other fun physical activities. They are also able to offer their children rebound therapy which is exercise based therapy using trampolines to provide opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across the whole spectrum of special needs.

Ross McWilliams, a medical negligence specialist at Irwin Mitchell and a Trustee of the charity, said:

Expert Opinion
“We were all very excited, if not slightly nervous, ahead of the skydive but knowing we were doing it to raise money for such a worthy cause helped to get us to the door of the plane.

“We are all so impressed with the amazing work that SNAPS does for local children with special needs and their families. It is such a great charity and I know from personal involvement as a Trustee that the money we have raised will go a long way.”

The full team of daredevils from Irwin Mitchell comprised of Margaret Ryan, Tarlo Supri, Sarah Coles, David King, Robert Cowling and Ross McWilliams.

Jenny Sellers, Community Fundraising Manager for SNAPS, said: “We are all delighted here at SNAPS with the support that Irwin Mitchell have shown for us by taking on this sky dive.

“Taking the plunge from 15,000 feet is no small task and I commend them for their bravery and for the fantastic amount of money they have raised to help SNAPS continue to deliver our much-needed services.”
