Review of Special Education Needs and Disability Independent Provision

Review of Special Education Needs and Disability Independent Provision

The White Rose Regional Commissioning Group is a partnership of all the local authorities in the Yorkshire and Humber region who jointly design and commission independent services for children across the region. They are currently reviewing the commissioning of independent residential homes, schools and colleges for children and young people with Special Education Needs and Disability to make sure it provides what children with disabilities and their families really want. Views of young people and families from all the Local Authorities in the partnership will be collected and used to inform the commissioning in 2021.

It is vital that they ensure these services are inclusive and personalised to meet individual needs. It is equally important that the right types of services are available when and where families want them.

How can you help?
They have designed this short questionnaire for parents and carers that asks for your views on your children’s residential, independent school and colleges; what is important to you as parents and carers and what sort of help you need to help children and young people transition into adulthood.

The questionnaire should take no more than 5 – 10 mins. The results from Leeds will be published on the Family Information Service website and used to inform how we commission independent residential, schools and colleges for children and young people with Special Education Need and Disability in the future.

The online questionnaire can be found at https://surveys.leeds.gov.uk/s/WZLV4Z/

Please do share the survey to as many parents / carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Leeds.

The deadline to complete the survey is Friday 22nd May 2020.

If you have any further questions please contact WhiteRoseRegionalCommissioning@leeds.gov.uk
