Staff and customers at The Woodman pub, Selby Road, raised a fantastic £1,104.10 for a local children’s charity by holding a raffle during the Euro 2021 tournament.
The pub decided to use the busy period to raise funds for SNAPS, which is a Leeds based charity that provides physiotherapy and fun activities for children with additional needs and their families.
A total of 33 prizes were donated by local businesses and residents of Halton, including vouchers for hairdressers, shopping vouchers, hampers, drinks vouchers, gift sets, plants and more! .
SNAPS, which is completely independently funded, provides a weekly haven for around 80 families by offering vital physiotherapy to children with additional needs and support for the whole family. With a vision to be an inspirational place connecting families and children with a wide range of challenges and opportunities, SNAPS aims to promote health and well-being for all by providing opportunities for people to meet, learn, play, and build relationships.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of the team at The Woodman Inn and all the customers who donated and bought raffle tickets, they managed to raise a fantastic £1104.09! These funds will go towards the services SNAPS offers to children with additional needs and their families including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and bounce sessions.
Louise Fielding from The Woodman Inn said:
“We chose to raise money for SNAPS as they are a Yorkshire based charity that only receives Public funding and they do great work with people we know within the local community. As Craft union pub operators we were given the opportunity to raise funds for SNAPS throughout the Euro’s.
“We had an amazing day with great entertainment by the lovely Andy Taylor (Apple entertainment agency) and of course the match final between England and Italy to top it off. Our Staff (Joanne Cuthbertson, Sarah Pickering and Kerri Lambert) along with local residents and regulars of the pub turned out in full during the Euro’s and helped us raise this great amount.
“As a whole along with our funds our Craft union family have raised a huge £95,040 for charities with our Crafty road to the final event’s and fundraisers. We would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone that helped make this happen.”
Eve Holdsworth, fundraising manager at SNAPS, said: “we would like to say a massive thank you to The Woodman, all its staff and customers who worked hard to raise these funds and who generously donated. The families that we support have found the pandemic particularly difficult, and it has taken its toll on many parents’, carers’ and children’s mental and physical health. This is why fundraising like this is vital and much needed to keep services going and helping to support children and families that need it the most.”
