Following on from the letter that SNAPS, West Yorkshire CANN and some of you have sent to our local councillors, leaders at the Council and MPs, I wanted to update you on what has happened since:
We have had a good response to our letter with various families hearing from their local MPs and Councillors. Sue Rumbold, Chief Officer Partnerships & Health Children and Family Services at Leeds City Council took the time to virtually meet, first with a SNAPS mum and then with Chris Eatwell (Chair of the Board of Trustees for SNAPS and Chair of WYCANN) and myself. We will be working with her to continue to get our families voices heard on various projects that she will be starting over the coming weeks and months to ensure families receive better support going forwards. One of the ways she will gathering this feedback is by setting up a parent’s forum to hear from families themselves exactly what issues you are facing at the moment. If you are interested in being part of that, please do let me know so that I can pass your details. We also had a long reply from Cllr. Fiona Vennor, and Hilary Benn MP also forwarded my email on to Matt Hancock. We will continue to bang the drum and try to get those in power to understand the huge impact that the current situation is having on you, our families. If you sent the letter and had a response, do let us know.
Myself and Jo are currently calling all current families to say hello and have a catch up so I look forward to speaking to some of you soon. If you do need anything, even if it’s just a chat, please do contact us on 07866 702026 (Lucy) or 07738 287024 (Jo).
