Vicky is mum to Millie. Millie has been a familiar face at SNAPS Penny Field for nearly a year. During this time Vicky has been quietly racking up the miles and raising money for SNAPS in the process.
Millie was diagnosed with a rare abnormality called cerebellar hypoplasia which means part of her brain is smaller than it should be. This means she finds things such as walking, balancing and talking really difficult. Despite this Millie has overcome so many milestones and gets around very confidently with the aid of her walker which she has now mastered. Millie has rebound sessions and her weekly physio is just fun to Millie. She laughs and smiles her way through her sessions which have helped massively in increasing her strength and balance.
On New Years Eve 2016, Vicky embarked upon a challenge which would take her up to the start of 2018. She decided to run 500km and part of the challenge was to raise some much-needed money for 3 charities which have been instrumental in Millie’s life. The Donkey Sanctuary where Millie takes her weekly donkey rides, Barnados Portage Service where Millie has play therapy each fortnight and SNAPS. Vicky has run 2 half marathons, a few 10k races and the rest of the miles have been notched up in park runs and solo runs. Vicky tracks ever kilometre and deducts them from her 500km total.
Vicky has found it hard to fit in the runs with juggling work, two young children and hospital appointments but has less than 50km to go. Vicky has found the challenge to be a really positive experience and has raised a fantastic £1600 so far. Her final challenge will be on New Years Day and Millie is planning on joining her mum in crossing the finish line.
We thank Vicky so much for her support. Millie is such a delight to have at SNAPS and we love to watch her grow in strength and confidence each week. I hope you will help in supporting Vicky by sharing her Virgin Money page or donating and helping to raise her total.
